WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Council of Regional Accrediting Commissions (C-RAC), a coalition of seven regional organizations responsible for the accreditation of roughly 3,000 of the nation’s colleges and universities, today issued the following statement recognizing the U.S. Department of Education’s effort to strengthen the College Scorecard, an online tool designed to provide consumer information about the cost and value of higher education:
“Providing expanded, accessible information about college and other postsecondary performance is critical to our work to assure institutional quality and continuous improvement. We applaud the Department for taking the opportunity to add meaningful data and taking the initiative to deepen the Scorecard for the benefit of institutions, policymakers, and, most importantly, students and parents.”
